Victory for West Indies over Sri Lanka in T20I series

In a nail-biting finish last night, West Indies defeated Sri Lanka by five wickets to claim their T20 International series 2-1 at Sabina Park.


Man-of-the-match Shamar Joseph who bowled with severe pace and accuracy, ended with impressive figures of five wickets for 33, to restrict the Sri Lankans to 169 all out. Sri Lanka accumulated their runs from the efforts of Dunith Wellalage who scored 43 from 28 deliveries, Kamil Mishara 28 from 23 balls, and Pathum Nissanka 26.

West Indies chasing 170 for victory, was led by Sherfane Rutherford who smashed an unbeaten 54 off 40 deliveries, and he was aided by Rovman Powell 33. However, with the game on a knife’s edge , Jason Holder’s whirlwind innings of 21 off five deliveries – with three sixes- ensured that the spectators were fully entertained and that West Indies were victorious.
