Sri Lanka defeated West Indies by 41 runs to take a one-nil lead in their three-match series yesterday at Sabina Park, Kingston Jamaica.
Batting first on a slowish surface, Sri Lanka made a competitive 303 runs for seven wickets off their alloted 50-overs and in reply, West Indies could only manage 262 allout .
For Sri Lanka, Pathum Nissanka made 79 runs off 103 balls and he struck nine fours and one six. Nissanka was supported by Captain and man-of-the-match Kusal Mendis who made an attacking 72 runs from 62 balls, with four fours and four sixes. Bowling for West Indies, Jaden Seals ,Matthew Forde and Roston Chase took two wickets each.
In their reply, West Indies started positively and posted 50 runs for the first wicket , before John Campbell was unfortunately run out for 17 runs. His opening partner Justin Greve was second top-scorer with 45 runs. Captain Shai Hope top scored with 56 runs from 66 balls and he struck two sixes and two fours.
The second game will be played Saturday, June 6 , 2026 at Sabina Park.
