
Jamaica women's 4x100m silver medal team at the World Athletics Championship Tokyo Japan
KINGSTON, Jamaica –
In less than ideal conditions, Jamaica’s women’s 4x400m and 4x100m relay teams produced season best performances, to capture silver medals at the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo Japan.
In rain and on a saturated track, the Jamaica 4x400m team powered themself to second in 3:19:25 behind the gold medal performance of the USA in a championship record time of 3:16:61 . Bronze went to the Netherlands with their season best of 3:20:18.
The Jamaican team was Jamaica Dejanea OAKLEY, Stacey Ann WILLIAMS, Andrenette KNIGHT and Nickisha PRYCE.
In the 4x100m, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in what could have been her final international appearance for Jamaica, got the team off to a competitive start setting the pace for a season best time of 41.79s and second place behind USA.
USA clocked 41.75s for gold and bronze went to the fast finishing Germany in 41.87s
Jamaica’s team in running order was Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Tina Clayton, Tia Clayton and Jonielle Smith withs splits of 11.32 for the first 100m, 21.50s for the second , and 31.66s for the third.
