KINGSTON, Jamaica- Oblique Seville scared all Jamaicans as he finished 3rd to qualify for the next round of the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo Japan moments ago.
Seville stuck in his blocks with a reaction time of .286 had to scramble to third place in 9. 93s behind Gift Leotlela of south Africa 9.87 and Kayinsola Ajayi of Nigera 9.88s.
Kishane Thompson ran a convincing race and comfortably won Heats 2 in 9.95s to advance. Thompson took his feet off the accelerator at the 50m mark and floated across the line. Eliezer Adjibi of Canada was second with 10.19s and third was Columbia’s Ronal Longa 10.21s
A focused Akeem Blake 10.07s was second to Noah Lyles 9.95s in heats 3.
