Propelled by Mitch Starc’s 6 wickets for 9 runs and a hattrick by Scott Boland, Australia thrashed the West Indies by 176 runs at Sabina Park this afternoon to win the series 3-0.
Starc bowling with pace, guile and experience, snared three wickets in his first over. Starc scalped John Campbell, Kevion Anderson, and Brandon King all without scoring, to have the home team 3 wickets down with zero runs .
Stac’s memorable performance in his 100th Test Match continued in his third over. He dismissed Mikyle Louis to join the 400-wickets club in Test Cricket, and when he trapped Shai Hope lbw with is 15th delivery, he recorded the fastest five-wicket haul in Test history.
West Indies woes were further compounded when Scott Boland’s hat-trick left them wobbling at 26-9. Boland accounted for wickets of Justin Greaves for 11, Shamar Josephs and Jomal Warrican without scoring.
Match of the Match Starc returned and bowled Jayden Seales for 0 to bundle out the West Indies for 27 off 14.3 overs .
West Indies total is the second lowest score in the history of Test cricket , one run more than New Zealand’s 26 against England in 1955 at Auckland.
