Tina Clayton was last night crowned women’s 100m champion at theNationalSenior and Junior Championships at the National Stadium.
Clayton clocked a personal best 10.81 seconds to dethrone Shericka Jackson, who clocked 10.88 seconds.
The darling of Jamaica’s sprinting , Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, qualified for the Tokyo Olympics in third with a season’s best 10.91 seconds.
Tia Clayton, who has had a dominating season, was injured during the race and was unable to finish.
With the expectation of the track being scorched in the men’s equivalent, Kishane Thompson’s personal best and world leading 9.75 seconds, left the thousands in attendance in awe of what they had witnessed.
Thompson, like a man on mission, got out of the blocks quickly and immediately took control, and he executed a near perfect race.
Oblique Seville, who almost withdrew at the starting blocks because of significant leg discomfort, finished second in 9.83 seconds while Akeem Blake was third with a personal best of 9.88 second.
